Has microsoft finally fixed the Xbox 360 3 ring of deaths with their newer systems?

I'm debating whether to buy a PS3 or a 360. The concern I have with a 360 is that I have heard nightmares about it dying. I have friends that have had to go through 3 xbox 360's because they keep dying.

Isn't it pitiful that XBox has had a long time to fix this overheating problem, but they do not seem to give a crap? I know that they have a 3 year warranty for the 3 rings of death, but still. a 33% failure is not acceptable.

So my question is, with the newer models, and the elite model, have there been any reportings of failures? If so, then the hell with the 360. I will just go for the PS3 to play GTA 4.

So if any of you have any experiences with newer models failing, please let me know.

And no, "Microsoft will ship you a new one" is not acceptable. Because you have to wait 2 weeks just to get one. And people have had their "new" one die as well.

The truth is the newest XBOX's even with the improved Falcon mobo and cpu are still experiencing failure rates of over 20%. It really sucks, MS will supposedly be putting out a new hardware update in the summer/fall. The only good news is that they've extended their warranty to 3 years due to threats of massive class-action lawsuits. I recommend avoiding an XBOX 360 if you can't afford to buy a replacement in the near future.
