Not true at all. They are, of course, working on updates but a new console is faaaaaaarrrrrrr in the future. I'm guessing a new console will come out in 3-6 years, nowhere near now.

Maybe a different version of the 360. I mean they got like 427 versions already, some discontinued. Core, Premium, Arcade, Halo 3 Edition, Pro, and Elite.
they should cuz the current one is crap!
if you mean better stuff inside the current one to reduce the chances of failing, i do believe they are working on that, but a new XBOX will not be coming out for quite a while
