What Microsoft OS can utilize dual core processors?

I need to buy a new computer and wonder which (if any) of Microsoft's Operating Systems can really utilize the new dual core processors. If there are any currently available can you also point me to additional resources where I can learn more about the benefits of using that OS on a dual core processor? Thanks.

Right now, the only one built for it is Windows XP 64, but I wouldn't waste my money on it. it has close to no driver support and it was designed too quickly in order to come out for the processor. Wait for Vista to come out. That is where you will get to see the real difference.

So far My best guess would be Windows XP...but you might want to wait for windows Vista or even if your very ambitious you can buy a 64bit prossesor with dual core...but to see any improvements youll need Windows Xp pro 64 bit edition...but this version has yet to prove stability at speeds over 3.8Ghz...but who knows ...the only OS i know of that runs well on 64 Bit Dual core Is variations Of UNIX and Linux...also they have done expirimetntal testing on dual core 64 bit prossesore in mac confuigurations runnig windws Xp that have proven to be somewhat stable...if you need more info go to the source and click on wiki books and search for the computer OS section and viola!
Right now, none. Dual Core is a fairly new technology, but if Windows is going to incorparate that into Vista then it will work. Otherwise Windows XP is 2001 and its main system files haven't been updated then it most definitely won't work. If you really want to see some dual core support you can look at Macintosh's new dual core G5. Note: not all programs can utilize dual cores. Then again if you have the time to learn linux some Linux systems can do dual core. If you choose to www.linuxquestions.org is a good place to start and help answer any questions you may have.
Of the operating systems currently available:

Windows XP Pro, MCE, and 64 bit edition, as well as all of the server variants will utilize a dual core or dual processor setup.

SuSE Linux offers a 64 bit edition.

Many other linux OS's also make use of dual core proc's and two processor systems.
