Most likely, the "Style" for your text is not set to "Normal" but to something like "Heading".

If you are using older versions of word, you may see it next to the font type and font size options. If you are using Word 2007, it is under the "Home" option under "Styles".

You should highlight the lines and change the style to "Normal" and then use return to move lines. It will work fine then.

Alternately (and better still), use the "page break" option under "Insert" menu to move the line to the next page. Then, even the styles won't impact it.
